Dreamlight
SATB Divisi+Piano | Advanced | English | 4’
"Dreamlight" explores the journey of finding one's purpose through extraordinary trials. Written for SATB divisi choir and piano, its lush harmony — ranging from dense tone clusters to soaring melodies — illustrates the complex, curving path of personal growth. Struggles with interpersonal relationships, self confidence, belief systems, deaths of loved ones, and external challenges can all mold one's character, and similarly craft the emotional arc of this piece. Beginning with earnest introspection, "Dreamlight" spirals into a pleading "prayer to no one" — a cry out to a seemingly indifferent universe to deliver us from these hard times. Finally, the choir finds solace in the tranquility of the mind, laying to rest in the light of their dreams.
Range: Soprano (B3-F#5) — Alto (A3-C#5) — Tenor (D#3-F#4) — Bass (E2-E4)
Notes: brief SATB solos. Piano difficulty: intermediate
